Voinjama City, October 21, 2025-A major draining cleaning exercise has commenced in Voinjama City by the Voinjama City Cooperation (VCC).

The exercise started today, Tuesday October 21, 2025 with the theme “Building climate resilience in Lofa County through strengthened water security systems and improved municipal sanitation”.

The project is estimated at US$27,000 and it is founded by The United Nations Capital Development Fund ( UNCDF) .

When completed, VCC officials say there will be free flow of erosions in the city mainly drainages connecting lowland/swampy areas in the city.

Speaking with reporters, the Administrative Assistant to the office of the Voinjama City Mayor, George Karley, emphasized that when completed, Voinjama City is expected to experience the free flow of erosions or floods during the rainy season.

George Karley called on community members not to put diets in the drainage as the City Cooperation will prepare a particular site to dump waste materials which will later be collected by a particular group of people for final disposal.

“We are calling on all community members to stop toileting in the drainage, to stop throwing diets in the drainage and stopped putting old clothes in the drainage. That’s the only way we can live a healthy life and free from flooding”, George Karley urged community members.

The General Manager of the Interior Construction Expert (ICE), Mohammed S. Kamara assured citizens of Voinjama City that the project will be completed before December 10, 2025.

Kamara told this news outlet that as a construction company, they been involved into different construction works in Lofa County including the renovation of the Superintendent Compound in Voinjama and the construction of the Wologizi Intellectual forum as well as fencing of the County Football field.

“With our past records which is very cleared and good, we can assure the Voinjama city citizens that the opening of this waterway will be durable, and very wide for the free flow of erosion. By the Grace of God, this project will be dedicated on December 20, 2025.”.  Mohammed Kamara, the General manager for the Interior construction expert ICE in Lofa County said.
