    PUL to Open Book of Condolence for Three Esteemed Journalists…

    Montserrado County,Monrovia City-Thursday,February 20,2025-The Press Union of Liberia (PUL)  today opened a book of condolence  to honor the lives and contributions of three distinguished members wh significantly impacted journalism and media practice in Liberia.  

    The ceremony which occurred at the PUL headquarters on Clay Street, Monrovia, began at 10 AM. The book of condolence is dedicated to:  

    1. James C. Dennis, Sr. – Founding father of the PUL, and formerly of Daily Listener, Palm Magazine, and the Liberian Star Newspaper.  
    2. Samuel Dweh – Formerly of The Daily Observer and Focus Newspapers.  
    3. Joseph Cheeseman – Formerly of BBC World Service Trust, Star Radio, and Radio Veritas.  

    The PUL invited all Union members, representatives from the Government of Liberia, families and friends of the fallen journalists, colleagues in the media, and the general public to this solemn occasion done in remembrance and solidarity during this difficult time.

    That said, Messrs. James C. Dennis, Sr., and Samuel Dweh will be buried separately following their respective funeral services on Saturday, 22 February 2025. Meanwhile, Joseph Cheeseman’s interment is scheduled for 01 March 2025.

    “The Press Union of Liberia profoundly mourns the loss of Dennis, Dweh, and Cheeseman and extends heartfelt condolences to their families and loved ones,” the media body release concluded.
