    River Gee University Students Union Elects New Leaders

    Montserrado County, Monrovia – February 23, 2025 – The River Gee University Students Union has held its 8th General Assembly and elected her new corps of officers.

    It was held at the GW Gibson High School multipurpose Auditorium in central Monrovia, on February 22, 2025, conducted under the theme “Education is Power”.

    The General Assembly was Chair by Emmanuel TT Swen, Liberia former Asst. Minister for Mines at the Ministry of Mines and Energy.    

    Newly elected leadership at the 8th General Assembly of the River Gee University Students Union-RIGUSU includes; Joseph Tarty Sankon – President, and student of the University of Liberia – UL, Elijah Cheapoo, Secretary, UL, Nimleh W Tyee Jr., Asst. Secretary, AME Zion University, Marcy Fokpoh, Stella Maris Polytechnic University – SMPU and Michael Mensah, student of UL was also elected Parliamentarian, respectively.

    Another shot taken at the close of RIGSU General Assembly where a new corps of officers were elected to steer the affairs of RIGUSU.

    The leadership is expected to preside over the County students union for two years according to the body’s Constitution.

    However, qualified delegates were drawn from its member Chapters which includes; the State run University of Liberia – UL, the African Methodist Episcopal University – AMEU the United Methodist University – UMU and the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University – AMEZU.

    An official of the county addresses the RIGUSU audience during the General Assembly.

    Other member Universities are; the William V. S. Tubman University of Maryland County, the Baptist Seminary, Stella Maris Polytechnic, the SMYTHE University College, Dujar University and the Cuttington University – CU  among others.

    Meanwhile, the peaceful assembly was well attended and witnessed by stakeholders of the County with a called from the Ad-hoc election commission, for students to be united and always law abiding. The induction ceremony will be announced in few days’ time.
