Tubmanburg, Bomi County- Saturday, November 8, 2025-The faithful of St. Dominic Parish in Tubmanburg gathered in joy and gratitude over the weekend as the church successfully concluded its 2025 Harvest celebration – an annual event dedicated this year to raising funds for major renovation works on the parish building.

The colorful ceremony, held on November 6, 2025, under the theme “Giving Back to God,” brought together parishioners, friends, and affiliates in thanksgiving and unity. The service was led by Father SMA, who reminded the congregation that giving is both an act of faith and a reflection of gratitude for God’s blessings.

A Call to Sustain the Spirit of Giving

In an interview following the event, Ms. Ages Varney, Chairperson of the 2025 Harvest Committee, expressed deep appreciation to all parishioners, donors, and guests who supported the harvest. She described the turnout and collective spirit as “a sign of hope and love within the St. Dominic family.”

“We want to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to make this year’s harvest a success,” Ms. Varney said warmly. “Even though the ceremony has ended, the harvest continues – we are still open to receiving contributions from anyone who wishes to support God’s work.”

She revealed that the committee will be reaching out to invited guests and supporters who were unable to attend the celebration, to give them an opportunity to honor their pledges toward the renovation drive.

    Renovation for Comfort and Growth

Providing insight into the purpose of the fundraising, Mr. Blama Varney, a member of the Harvest Committee, explained that the renovation project aims to improve the worship environment and ensure the comfort of parishioners during services.

“We want St. Dominic Parish to be a place of beauty and spiritual peace – where everyone can worship in comfort,” Mr. Varney said. “The estimated cost of the renovation is fifteen thousand U.S. dollars, and we’re calling on stakeholders, parishioners, and friends of the church to help us reach this goal.”

The planned renovation will include repairs to the church’s roof, repainting, installation of new pews, and electrical upgrades – improvements the committee says are long overdue.

    Parishioners Express Gratitude and Commitment

Members of the congregation, speaking to Rural Reporters News Network, expressed heartfelt thanks to the Harvest Committee for its dedication and leadership. They said the annual harvest is more than a fundraising event – it is a spiritual renewal that strengthens their faith and commitment to the parish’s mission.

“This is our way of giving back to God,” one parishioner said. “Every year, we contribute to make sure our church continues to stand strong – both physically and spiritually.”

Many pledged their continued support, promising to contribute in whatever way possible to ensure the success of the renovation project.

    A Season of Gratitude

Across Liberia, the Catholic Church observes November as Harvest Month, a time of thanksgiving and community building. For St. Dominic Parish, this year’s celebration marked a new chapter – one that blends faith with action, as the community unites to restore and beautify its place of worship.

As the final hymn echoed through the church hall, the spirit of togetherness lingered – a reminder that while the harvest day has ended, the work of faith and generosity continues.

“We are not just renovating a building,” Ms. Varney reflected. “We are renewing our faith, our commitment, and our love for God and one another.”
