    Violent Storm Leaves Several Homeless and Properties Destroyed in its Wake

    Kolahun District, Lofa County |March 24, 2026 |Several towns and villages in the Lower Lofa have been hit were hit by a violent and heavy storm leaving more families homeless.

    Some of the places visited by our reporter, were found to be completely smashed as a result of the disaster.

    On Saturday March 21, 2026, the disaster started with a heavy down pour of rain in almost all the major towns and villages in lower Lofa; destroying major buildings including individual residences and schools alike.

    Towns and villages affected include among others, Hilgbelahun in Wulukoha Clan Kolahun district, Bassamalahun School in Bassamalahun town, Wuhalahun School in wuhalahun town, Mbalahun town including school and private homes.

    Composites of some damaged structures the violent storm left in its wake.

    At Harleyngee community Radio station, the roaring storm damaged the solar system and Eagle FM tower respectively.

    According to an eyewitness report, one person was injured in Hilgbelahun Town, Wulukoha Clan while over one Thousand family members Household are homeless stopping with family members.

    Several School Administrators in the affected areas are calling on the National Government for quick intervention as students will be out of school until Government intervention.

    Towns and Villages affected are calling on Nongovernmental organizations in Liberia to help, especially the National Disaster management committee in Liberia.

    The Storm disaster in Lower Lofa County has left their major farming activities hostage, farmers are worried about the continued rainfall while at the same time struggling to rebuild their Houses and School buildings.

    Meanwhile, the victims are calling on local authority, humanitarian organizations and national government to come to their aid as the storm left them in a terrible with lodging, food and clothing high on the agenda of needs; especially during this farming period.
