Gbanyah Town, Gbarpolu County |May 15, 2026|CARE Liberia recently held a mobilization meeting in Gbanyah Town, Bokomu District, to support a new women empowerment project in Liberia.
CARE Liberia implements programs that improve livelihoods, health, and resilience, especially for women and young people.
The meeting brought together local women leaders, community members, and other stakeholders.
The program is part of a UN Women initiative aimed at helping women and girls improve their lives through economic opportunities and skills development in rural communities.
CARE Liberia Project Officer, Maybel Moimah Flomo, led the meeting and encouraged women to take advantage of the opportunities the project will provide.
She said the project will focus on training and support that can help women become financially independent and active in community participation and development.
“We are committed to providing training and resources that will help women in this community thrive,” she said.
Community members at the meeting discussed the many challenges women face in rural areas, especially limited access to jobs, business opportunities, and financial support.

The empowerment initiative is being carried out in 11 counties across Liberia, including Gbarpolu County.
The project aims to improve the lives of women and young people through sustainable community programs.
Resources for the initiative are provided through UN Women Liberia, while Care Liberia is responsible for implementing the activities and ensuring support reaches the intended beneficiaries.
Residents welcomed the project and said it could help strengthen families and improve livelihoods in Bokomu District and nearby communities.
Aaron Yarsiah Belekpo thanked the organizations for supporting the initiative. He said the program would help empower women in different sectors of the community.
CARE Liberia said the project will continue working toward creating better opportunities for women and building a stronger and more inclusive future for communities across Liberia.
