    Youth Action Lead Liberia Trains 40 People in Climate Change, Safety Mining Practices

    Bong-Youth Action Lead Liberia, a non-governmental youth organization based in Bong County has conducted a one-day awareness training in climate change and safety mining practices for over 40 persons in Electoral District #2, Bong County. The training was held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 in Electoral District #2, Bong County.  

    The training which targeted community leaders, environmental advocates, and community dwellers from Foloblah and Tormue towns, fostered a deep understanding on climate issues and empowering affected community with the rightful knowledge to take action against bad environmental practices.

    Executive Director of the youth group, Edwin Boakai said one-day training was held to educate community dwellers on climate change and safety mining practice in their respective communities. Boakai narrated that his group is supporting global efforts to combat climate change and promote safety mining practices in Liberia, adding, 40 persons benefited from the training.

    “The organization was able to have brought, experts from the legal background and environment to teach community dwellers about their roles in the mining process and also the responsibility of the mining company when it comes to the social agreement, and the community involvement in combating climate Change in Liberia”, said Edwin Boakai.

    During the training, participants were encouraged make use of the knowledge gained upon their return to their communities in order to protect the land and the environment.

    Youth Action Lead Liberia is one of the leading youth organizations in Bong County creating awareness around climate Change and safety mining practices, especially in mining affected areas within the county.

    The group is currently running two years project in five communities with support from Fund Global Human Rights- by educating community dwellers on climate Change and safety mining practice.

    The group is expected to training over 120 community members in Yowee, Gbarkorneh, David Dean, Tormue and Foloblah towns in Bong County.

    Participants who spoke at the end of the training lauded Youth Action Lead Liberia for organizing what they termed as an eye opener training for them. They promised to make use of the knowledge by serving as ambassadors for climate change and safety mining practices in their areas.

    The participants called on the organization through its Executive Director to continue the initiative by creating more awareness on climate change and safety mining practices.
