Barclayville City, Grand Kru County-Friday, May 30,2025- Educate-Her in partnership with the Ministry of Education and have ended a high-level Stakeholder meeting on the implementation of the National Policy on Girl’s Education which is meant to inform and remind national leaders about the importance of the policy.
The activity intended to strategize on ways to implement and maintain girls in school brought together Ministers, District Education Officers, Teachers, Advocates and Civil Society Actors.
Providing the overview at the start of the occasion, Madam Alfreda Nmah, Executive Director of HOPE said the activity aims to provide adequate access to affordable and quality education for girls.
According to her, the project is part of the Education Out Loud initiative, funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) through Oxfam Denmark; noted that Educate HER is a stand-alone, girls’ and women’s project that aims to ensure the effective implementation of the National Policy on Girls’ Education.

She indicated that the National Policy on Girls’ Education also provides a comprehensive roadmap for improving girls’ education in Liberia through targeted investments, policy reforms, and community engagement.
“The National Policy on Girls’ Education (NPGE) 2021-2026 aims to provide adequate access to affordable and quality education and promote gender equity and equality through the educational system. The review also provides a comprehensive roadmap for improving girls’ education in Liberia through targeted investments, policy reforms, and community engagement” she said.
Madam Nmah noted that the project is meant to promote Gender Equity and Equality in improved implementation and monitoring of the National Policy of Girls Education (NPGE 2021 – 2026) and the three-year strategic plan.
According to her, the project objectives include: Increased commitment of policymakers and key stakeholders to create an enabling environment for implementing the National Policy on Girls’ Education and Improved monitoring and accountability of county and national stakeholders.
HOPE Executive Director Alfreda Nmah stressed the need for government to prioritize girl’s education through increased budgetary allocation.
Also speaking at the end of the gathering, stakeholders underscored the importance of girl’s education in sustainable development.
They believed investing in girls’ education is one of the surest ways in driving economic growth and creating a gender equity society while at the same time admonished the importance of translating lessons learned into action.
“We understand that Girls education is very vital. Like the saying goes, when you educate a girl child you educate an entire nation” said Francis D. Wesseh, Jroa Education District Officer.
“As for me, as we leave from here today, I want us to think on how we translating training into practice. How are we taking these trainings into consideration and putting into action? We must invest where we have impact” Roosevelt Nyamah grieved.
They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the policy and the people of Liberia.
“On behalf of the County authorities, I want to use this time to thank you and further assure you that this policy document will not stay on the table and get dusty. I will take the message to the county superintendent for discussion and we are going to act on it,” Madam Comfort Nimely Bloh, Barclayville City Mayoress said.

However, the Educate-HER Coalition advocates for implementing policies that promote girls’ education in Liberia. Their work leverages strategic partnerships and advocacy initiatives to promote gender equity and equality in education.
The Educate HER Coalition is supported by the Educate HER Consortium, which comprises two women-led civil society organizations in Liberia: Helping Our People Excel (HOPE) and Paramount Young Women Initiative (PAYOWI). These institutions are qualified and experienced in advocacy, education, policy development, and gender mainstreaming.
Accordingly, the goal of the Educate-HER project is to contribute to the effective implementation of the National Policy on Girls Education 2021-2026 (NPGE), with a specific focus on the policy’s areas addressing the key barriers to girls’ attendance, retention, and completion (GARC) in secondary schools.
