Grand Kru County, Barclayville City-Tuesday, March 11, 2025-The local County authorities of Grand Kru County have commenced a detailed survey of the city aimed at the full laying out of its streets- marks a pivotal step in the urban development of Barclayville, which has not seen a comprehensive street plan since its establishment in 1984.

The survey, which began last week, March 6, 2025 is part of a broader strategy to enhance infrastructure and improve overall living conditions in the city, as the topographical assessments and community consultations have since begun, allowing residents of Barclayville to provide inputs on their needs and expectations for the future of Barclayville’s layout.
County officials through Grand Kru County Development Officer, Joe Sekpeh remarked that the lack of a formal street system in Barclayville has posed numerous challenges for the local population, including inadequate access to essential services and a lack of proper transportation routes.

“We are committed to bringing transformative changes to Barclayville,” stated County Development Officer, Joe Sekpeh. “This comprehensive survey will serve as the blueprint for establishing a functional street network that addresses the current and future needs of Barclayville.”
The Grand Kru County Development Officer said, County officials assert that this fundamental infrastructure development is just the beginning of broader efforts to revitalize Barclayville and improve the lives of its residents.

The survey team according to our Correspondent comprises local engineers, Public Works Resident Engineer, urban planners, and community representatives, ensuring that the perspectives of residents are integral to the planning process, which aim to incorporate sustainable practices in the street layout, focusing on environmental impact and resilience against climate change.
Meanwhile, residents of Barclayville and its surroundings have expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, seeing it as a long-awaited opportunity to enhance their quality of life which is expected to attract more visitors and encourage economic growth in the area.
“This is a dream come true for many of us who have lived here for years without proper roads. Being able to travel without navigating potholes and unpaved paths will certainly make a difference,” remarked one senior resident who was seen following team as they traverse the city doing their work.
