Grand Kru County, Liberia – Monday, May 12, 2025-The newly inducted President at the Grand Kru Technical College, Prof. Sarwee Joe Wia Faeflen, has outlined a robust vision aimed at transforming the institution into a beacon of learning and innovation, emphasized that student success, an enabling environment, research and innovation, and the betterment of local communities are the cornerstones of his leadership agenda.
Professor Sarwee Joe Wia Faeflen, PhD., was appointed as the first President of the Grand Kru Technical College in Barclayville, Grand Kru County by Liberia’s President Joseph N. Boakai in April, 2025.
Prof. Faeflen, who takes the helm of the college at a critical time, believes that providing quality education and practical skills to students is essential for empowering the youth and fostering community development, highlighted the need for a comprehensive approach that not only focuses on academic excellence but also on nurturing creativity and innovation among students.
“The future of our institution lies in our ability to equip our students with the necessary tools to succeed in a rapidly changing world,” he stated. “We will strive to create an environment that promotes research and innovation, enabling our students to tackle real-world challenges and contribute positively to society.”
The new President also lauded the support of President Joseph Boakai and the Grand Kru Legislative Caucus, recognizing their commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in Grand Kru, and beyond.

In his address, the Grand Kru Technical College President also called for the immediate construction of the main campuses of Grand Kru Technical College, noting that investing in infrastructure is vital to improving access to education for local students.
“With the support of our leaders and the dedication of our faculty and staff, I firmly believe that we can turn Grand Kru Technical College into a model institution of higher learning in Liberia,” Prof. Faeflen remarked. “We must work collectively to ensure that our college becomes a catalyst for local development, providing opportunities for our youth and uplifting the standards of living in our communities.”
Prof. Faeflen vision includes the establishment of partnerships with trades and other educational institutions, aimed at fostering collaboration that will enhance the practical aspects of learning.
In closing, the president reiterated his commitment to inclusivity, encouraging all stakeholders—students, faculty, community members, and local government officials—to come together in support of the college’s mission; pleaded with locals to take an active role in the development of the college, ensuring that it reflects the needs and aspirations of the community it serves.
