Greenville City, Sinoe County-Tuesday 01, 2025-The National Port Authority (NPA), through its Board of Directors and management, has embarked on a significant renovation project at the Samuel Alfred Ross Port of Greenville. This initiative is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving infrastructure at one of Liberia’s key seaports.

The project encompasses the upgrading of six administrative offices and rehabilitating the road leading from the port entry gate to the pier. The total estimated cost of the project is $325,000 United States Dollars, with the first phase receiving an initial allocation of $130,000 United States Dollars.

Contracts for the renovation have been officially signed with PA Engineering and Construction Company (PAECC) and Rapha Engineer & Construction Associates, who are to oversee the implementation of the project. Speaking on the latest development, the Port of Greenville’s Director, Cllr. Sylvia Abena Tarley, emphasized that strict safety measures have been put in place but also essential protective gear, including safety boots, reflective jackets, and helmets, have already been provided to contractors for distribution among their workers.

According to Cllr. Tarley, the initial assessment for the renovation was conducted in August 2024. However, due to the rainy season and delays in material deliveries in October 2024, the project commencement was postponed to this month. The first phase is expected to be completed within eight weeks.
To ensure smooth execution, the Sinoe National Port Authority (SNPA) will disburse 50% of the allocated funds to each construction company at the start of the project. The remaining balance will be paid upon successful completion. Additionally, the port’s technical staff will work closely with the contractors to ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications.

Meanwhile, Director Tarley also expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency President Joseph N. Boakai for his unwavering support toward infrastructure development and the modernization of Liberia’s port facilities. She reaffirmed that this renovation is a vital step in strengthening the Port of Greenville’s capacity, ultimately contributing to economic growth and development in the region.
