CAPE TOWN, South Africa – “We have distributed hundreds of information materials and geotechnical maps to investors, clearly explaining the diverse critical mineral resources our country has to offer,” said Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), Carlos Edison Tingban in an ELBC interview on February 6, 2025.

Assistant Minister Tingban detailed the proactive measures taken by the Ministry of Mines and Energy to promote Liberia’s mineral potential, adding, Liberia’s delegation has engaged in numerous high-level meetings with South African officials—such as the Minister of Mines and Mineral Petroleum Resources—as well as natural resource ministers and industrial leaders from other countries.

Tingban said delegates at the Mining Indaba 2025 Conference have already developed significant interest from multinational companies, high-net-worth investors, and industry leaders. “After this event, Liberia’s mining sector is poised to be transformed by new investment opportunities. We are opening our hands to the prospects that will drive our economic growth,” he noted.

The MME’s official noted that Liberia has positioned itself as a key player in Africa’s mining future at the Mining Indaba 2025-the insights shared at Mining Indaba 2025 not only shine a light on Liberia’s mineral wealth but also underscore the country’s determination to attract sustainable investment and drive long-term economic growth.

According to him, the ongoing engagements at the mining conference is setting the stage for a transformative period for Liberia’s mining sector—one that promises to bring renewed prosperity and development to the West African nation.

The Mining Indaba 2025 gathered global mining professionals and investors in Cape Town, South Africa to discuss challenges and prospects facing Africa’s mining sector.

Liberia’s delegates include, Minister of Mines and Energy, Wilmot Paye, Assistant Minister Carlos Edison Tingban, William S. Hines, Deputy Minister for Operations, and Anthony Kullie, Director of the Liberia Geological Survey.

“This gathering is a pivotal meeting place for deal-making and discussions on technological advancements in mining, sustainable practices, and investment opportunities in African mining projects,” MME’s Assistant Minister said. The presence of these officials underscores Liberia’s commitment to showcasing its vast mineral potential on an international stage.

The 2025 mining conference in South Africa heavily focused on the positive disruption in the African mining sector—a shift aimed at leveraging the continent’s abundant critical minerals to lead the global energy transition”.

What is the government doing to address the current wave of massive mineral exploration that is on-going in various parts of the country – to name a few; Grand Gedeh, Grand Cape Mount, Sinoe and River Gee Counties?
