Kolahun District, Lofa County–Tuesday, November 11, 2025–Citizens of Kolahun District are appreciating the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) for major road rehabilitation in their areas.

IFAD is currently rehabilitating a 19kilometer road between Nyandemoillahun Junction and Quessembah Town in Wulukoha Clan.

According to the team leader for the road rehabilitation project, the road will be completed in six (6) months and there be one year for observation of maintenance. As part of the rehabilitation, they are also repairing bridges, potholes and cracks.

Some of the community members told this news platform that the community is happy for the initiative undertaken by the International Fun for Agriculture Development IFAD in the district.

According to the Wulukoha Clan leadership headed by Tarnue Jallah, the Community initially planned to use the 1 Million Dollars celebration money which was provided by former President George Manneh Weah during his county tour to rehabilitate their roads but said amount was not enough. Now that IFAD is rehabilitating the road, the celebration token (money) will now be used to appeal to the contractors to extend the road rehabilitation project above the 19 kilometer road initially set out for.

“With the coming of IFAD for the road rehabilitation, it will greatly help the community to improve trading in the district,” some community members said in an interview on Friday November 8, 2025.

The present road rehabilitation work officially started on Friday, November 8, 2025 from Nyandemoillahun Junction to Quessembah Town and will be done in phases.

For starters, IFAD is a specialized agency of the United Nations that works to eradicate poverty and hunger in rural areas of developing countries. They provide low-interest loans and grants to support projects that enable rural communities to overcome poverty and improve their livelihood.

Moreover, IFAD focuses on rural economies and food security, aiming to make rural communities more inclusive, prosperous, and resilient.
