Maweyasu, Lofa County-Residents of Maweyasu town in the Lukambeh administrative district have made a heartfelt plea for recognition and support for their clinic.  The residents made the plea on Saturday, November 16, 2024 during a visit by the county health team.

The Maweyasu clinic was constructed by the citizens of the town. Since the construction of the clinic, there has been less or no support from central government for the operation of the clinic. During the county health team’s recent visit in the town, Residents of Maweyasu urged the Human Resource Assistant of the county health team, Max Ngaima Momo to advocate for the recognition of their Clinic by the central government in terms of support.

Town Chief, Blama Sheriff, expressing the community’s concerns regarding the clinic said: “We built the structure, but we lack medicine, equipment, and essential resources. This is why we are calling on the Liberian government, through the Lofa County Health Team, to advocate on our behalf for this clinic to be recognized,” the chief pleaded further.

The community’s plea highlights the urgent need for healthcare resources in the area. Residents believe that having the clinic officially recognized would enable them to receive the necessary support and supplies to serve their health needs adequately.

In response, Max Ngaima Momo assured the citizens of Maweyasu that the health team is committed to working collaboratively to ensure that the clinic gains recognition from the government. “We, the leadership at Lofa County Health Team, will work together to make sure that your health facility is recognized for the benefit of our people in Maweyasu and its surroundings,” he affirmed.

The appeal for support from the people of Maweyasu underscores the broader challenges facing rural healthcare in Liberia, where many communities struggle with inadequate medical facilities and resources. The citizens of Maweyasu remain hopeful that their request will lead to improved health services in their area.
