Sasstown, Grand Kru County—Authorities at the Sasstown High School have commended the Government of Liberia and its development partners for the massive renovation works recently carried out at the institution. School authorities put the cost of the renovation at US$25,000.

The commendation was made following the completion of major repair and refurbishment works on several units of the school, which had previously been in a dilapidated state.

Mr. Peter Geply, Principal of Sasstown High School expressed deep appreciation to the Liberian government for the intervention. He noted that the funds were used in two components covering three major units of the school.

“We are grateful to the government and partners for this timely intervention,” Mr. Geply said. “The renovation has brought new life to our school and created a more conducive learning environment for our students.”

The Sasstown High School principal also highlighted several challenges that affect the institution, adding, despite the extensive renovation, many classrooms were left out and the school continues to experience limited sitting capacity, which the school administration says hinder effective learning.

Mr. Geply therefore appealed to the government and other stakeholders to extend the renovation project to include the remaining classrooms and to provide adequate furniture for both students and teachers.

“We thank the government for what has been done so far, but we are still in need of additional support to complete the renovation and ensure all students have a place to sit and learn comfortably,” he added.

The renovation project is part of the Liberian government’s broader effort to improve educational infrastructure across the country, ensuring that students in rural communities like Sasstown have access to quality learning facilities.
