ZWEDRU, August 19, 2025- The Liberia National Police (LNP) in Grand Gedeh County has charged and forwarded to the Zwedru City Magisterial Court several Burkinabee nationals accused of multiple crimes, including criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, and criminal facilitation.
The incident occurred on August 3, 2025, in the Niko Forest, B’hai Chiefdom, where two groups of Burkinabees clashed over forest and land ownership. The groups, led by Barkpin Noufou from the Gussie tribe and Isiaka Sawadogo from the Mossi tribe, engaged in a violent fight that resulted in severe injuries to Isiaka.
The LNP swiftly responded to the scene and arrested Barkpin Noufou, who was subsequently charged and forwarded to court. A manhunt has been launched for three other suspects who are currently on the run.
The victim, Isiaka Sawadogo, is receiving treatment at a clinic in Toe City, Grand Gedeh County. The LNP says it remains committed to curbing crimes and ensuring justice is served in the county.
