Kolahun District, Lofa County-A heavy storm on Thursday, March 27, 2025 struck the Kpandahawa Public School, consequently unroofing one of the buildings and leaving another completely destroyed to the dismay of the community and school authorities.
The school principal, Prince Konneh has appealed for immediate assistance to address the critical situation.
Speaking to our lower Lofa County Correspondent, Principal Konneh revealed that the storm has caused significant infrastructural damage to the school. “We have lost one school building entirely, and the other is left exposed to the elements,” he explained. He noted that the school is in dire need of repairs to ensure that the students continue their education in a safe environment.

Following the storm, Mr. Konneh said former District #3 Representative, Clarance Massaquoi, donated 30 bags of cement and LD$20,000 as an initial contribution to assist with the rebuilding efforts. “Hon. Massaquoi has truly stepped up as we were not expecting this generous support”, he remarked.
With the initial supplies provided, the principal stated that work have commenced on the damaged building, adding, “our primary goal is to ensure that our students have a safe and functional learning environment.”
The principal used the occasion to request for additional support, saying, the initial supplies provided by Clarence Massaquoi is not enough to complete the renovation work. He called on authorities of the education sector, the Lofa legislative caucus and NGOs to contribute resources and also aid with the rebuilding process. “Every bit of help counts,” Konneh urged. “Our students depend on us for a quality education, and it is our responsibility to provide them with the facilities they need.”, Principal Konneh said.

The situation at the Kpandahawa Public School serves as a poignant reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by educational institutions during extreme weather conditions.
