Kolahun, Lofa County–A United States Based not-for-profit organization, the Association of Gbandi Landers in America (AGLA) has donated essential medical materials to Kolahun Hospital.

The donation was made today, June 15, 2025 at the ground of the Kolahun Referral Hospital. AGLA says the donation is part of its commitment to enhancing health care delivery and ensuring the well-being of citizens of the Gbandi Land.

The Medical Director of Kolahun Hospital, Dr. Vamuyan Koroma expressed heartfelt gratitude to AGLA for their generous support, emphasizing the critical role that such contributions play in improving health services within the chiefdom and the surrounding areas.

“This donation is not just about materials; it represents hope and a commitment to better healthcare for our community,” Dr. Koroma stated. He urged other organizations and individuals to take inspiration from AGLA’s gesture, highlighting that health is a fundamental aspect of life and should be prioritized.

The ceremony was also attended by prominent leaders, including Paramount Chief Jallah Manjoe and Kolahun District Commissioner Joseph K. Yarkoi. Both officials described AGLA’s efforts as commendable and essential for the development of the Gbandi chiefdom. They expressed their appreciation for the donations and called on community members and local organizations to contribute to the betterment of the hospital and the overall health of the population.

Commissioner Yarkoi highlighted the vital role that healthcare plays in the lives of citizens and encouraging more collaborations that aim to uplift the Gbandi chiefdom.

As the community continues to face healthcare challenges, the call for collaboration and support from local and international organizations remains crucial.

AGLA’s initiative serves as an example of how diaspora communities can contribute significantly to their homeland, fostering hope and better health services.
