The tragedy of many young people today is not that they lack potential, but that society often values them only for what it can extract from them.
An elephant walks tirelessly under the burning sun, enduring hunger, exhaustion, and danger just to survive. Yet the world rarely notices its suffering.
People focus only on the ivory attached to its head. The tusks are admired, desired, and hunted, while the life carrying them is ignored.
That is the painful reality many youths face today.
Many people celebrate young people not because they genuinely care about them, but because of what they can gain from them.
Your intelligence becomes useful to them. Your talent becomes profitable to them. Your beauty becomes entertaining to them. Your loyalty becomes convenient to them. Your energy becomes a tool for their ambitions.
As long as you continue producing, serving, sacrificing, and pleasing others, they remain around you. But once you become weak, unemployed, emotionally exhausted, financially unstable, or no longer beneficial to their interests, many suddenly disappear.
Look carefully around our society.
Some young people abandon their education chasing temporary acceptance from people who later forget them completely.
Others are manipulated during political campaigns with small money, alcohol, fake promises, and emotional speeches, only to be abandoned immediately after elections.
Many enter relationships where they are valued only for financial support, physical attraction, social status, or personal convenience rather than genuine love and respect.
Even in workplaces, hardworking young people are often overused because of their dedication while receiving little appreciation, poor salaries, and limited opportunities for growth.
One of the most dangerous psychological conditions in life is becoming valuable only for what you provide while your own humanity is neglected.
Young people must understand this early: not everyone clapping for you truly cares about you. Some people only protect the fruit, not the tree producing it. Protect your mind. Protect your dignity. Protect your future.
Invest in education, discipline, self-respect, character, and skills that no one can easily manipulate or take away from you.
Learn to identify people who value your existence beyond your usefulness. Never allow desperation for attention, love, acceptance, or survival to make you vulnerable to exploitation.
The world will always admire the tusks. But never forget to protect the elephant carrying them.
