MONROVIA – Road traffic accident statistics released earlier this week by the Liberia National Police (LNP) revealed that 23 individuals including 20 males and three 3 females, died last month as a result of fatal motor vehicle accidents.
The police report classified the total number of last month’s accident victims into three groups, vehicle operators, eight dead; occupants or passengers, seven dead; and pedestrians, eight dead.
In the LNP latest road accident report, the police Public Safety Division recorded a total of 157 accident cases in September of 2024.
Last month road accidents left some 144 people including 133 males and 11 females with bodily injuries, the police report added.
Out of the 144 who sustained bodily injuries, this included 80 vehicle operators, 52 occupants or passengers, and 12 pedestrians.
Two hundred and forty-nine vehicles were involved in the total number of road accidents that took place last month, with 45 vehicles being described by the police as getting badly damaged.
Out of the September accident cases, six have been sent to court, 61 withdrawn, and 90 are pending police actions.
Police authorities are urging that all road users continue to adhere to the country’s vehicle and traffic laws.
