As Mine and Energy Ministry Successfully Achieved Its Revenue Target for 2024-2025!

    By Geeplay Ezekiel Geeplay

Monrovia, January 12, 2025- For diligently dedicating to assigned duties and responsibilities of positive change and reforms that reflect the overarching agenda of the Liberian government to not do ‘business as usual’, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Wilmot Paye, has received a high recognition from the ‘Association of Like-minded Women of Liberia’.

In a brief remarks during the honoring ceremony held Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Ministry’s Capitol Hill offices, Executive Director, Sarah Kamara, and Spokesperson, Prince Grandoe, said Minister Paye has proven beyond expected benchmarks that he is a patriotic citizen who desires nothing less than the best for his Country Liberia.

They pinpointed the massive renovation of the Mines and Energy Ministry’s central offices, and his administration prevailing on required policy and law reform processes, as well as restoring investors’ confidence in the mineral and energy sectors as remarkable achievements the new Minister of Mines and Energy has made.

The honoring ceremony highlights important development initiatives in less than one year of the government, especially the Ministry of Mines and Energy under the progressive leadership style of Minister Wilmot Paye.

The women group commended Minister Wilmot Paye for putting Liberia’s interest first through the roll out of the basic functions of the mining and energy sectors by not indulging into unwholesome acts that are meant for personal benefits, and undermine revenue generation to support national development programs.

As a mark of recognition for distinguishably delivering on his national leadership mandate to serve the interest of the Liberian people, the Association of Like-minded Women of Liberia handed Minister Paye a sash bearing the national colors, and presented him colorful electric petals {flowers), which the honoree onward presented to the Ministry, referring to the progress made thus far as a result of cohesive teamwork.

But in response to the women group’s recognition, Minister Paye encouraged fellow Liberians to generate a positive mindset of possibilities in their [own] knowledge, skills and abilities to make needed changes that present Liberia brightly among the comity of nations.

The Mines and Energy Minister told the gathering, refurbishing office facilities of the Ministry was necessary, but noted that it was not the only focus of his administration.

He said, whilst the renovation works were ongoing, the Ministry was also living up to its revenue generation obligation. Minister Paye disclosed that the Mine and Energy Ministry reached its target tasked by the national budget process.

According to Minister Paye, Mines and Energy Ministry raised the targeted One Hundred and Twelve Million United States Dollars, and surpassed that amount before the just-ended fiscal period. The Minister wants Liberians rise up to the charge of taking their own institutional and national transformations into their own hands, and avoid relying heavily on outsiders to make Liberia a better place.

Speaking to strategies to make this happen, Minister Paye called on national decision makers to be insightful and innovative in identifying key areas of needs and work with available resources to make the change required.

It can be recalled recently, several news daily including the ANALYST Newspaper, recognized the exceptional manner in which Minister Wilmot Paye has performed as a top official [Minister] in the government headed by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
