Klay Checkpoint, Bomi County |June 1,2026 |The Bomi County Health Team has strengthened Ebola prevention efforts by establishing a handwashing station and temperature screening system at the Klay Checkpoint.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to protect communities and prevent the possible spread of infectious diseases through early detection and public awareness.
The prevention measures were introduced through collaboration between the County Health Team and the Joint Security Team stationed at the checkpoint.
The action followed a coordination meeting involving health authorities and security agencies aimed at improving surveillance and public health preparedness.
Klay Checkpoint is an important transportation hub that connects travelers from several counties, including Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, Bomi, and Montserrado, as well as neighboring countries.
Health officials believe the checkpoint plays a key role in monitoring movement and promoting public safety through preventive health measures.
Speaking during the launch, Bomi County Health Officer Dr. Annette Brima-Davis encouraged the public to support the initiative.
“The fight against Ebola begins with prevention and vigilance. We encourage every traveler and resident to cooperate with health workers and adhere to all preventive measures designed to protect our communities.”
Dr. Brima-Davis also reassured the public that Liberia currently has no suspected, probable, or confirmed Ebola cases, while emphasizing the importance of continued vigilance.
The handwashing and temperature screening systems are expected to improve disease prevention efforts and encourage healthy practices among travelers and residents.
Health authorities say the latest intervention demonstrates Bomi County’s commitment to community protection, preparedness, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all citizens.
